The Facility Association

The Facility Association is the insurer of last resort for those deemed to be too high a risk to be insured under the regular insurance pool.

The association is funded through insurance companies operating in New Brunswick.

The 12-month rolling average number of private passenger vehicles insured under the high rates of the Facility Association peaked in April 2003 at more than 25,000. As a result of reforms introduced in 2003, the number of motorists insured under the Facility Association has fallen to about 7,000, with a continuing downward trend.

The Facility Association is used by high-risk drivers and those who have been convicted of negligent or criminal behaviour.
